Online Protractor - Measure your angles online in degrees

How to use the degree protractor

To use the online protractor, just place it on the object you want to measure and look at its angle. Be careful to hold it straight, this will allow you to have a more precise angle.

Who invented the protractor ?

One protractor is a device used to measure angles. It consists of a semicircle to which a straight edge is attached. The straight edge is used to align the measuring instrument with the object to be measured, and the user then reads the angle of the scale.

It is believed that the first angle calculator was created by the Greek mathematician Euclid around 300 BC. It is unclear whether Euclid actually invented the protractor, or simply described it in his book Elements. However, this one appears in a drawing in Elements, which is believed to be the earliest known depiction of the device.

The modern protractor was thought up by English mathematician Edmund Gunter in the early 1600s. The angle calculator Gunter invented was similar to the one we use today, with a few minor differences. It wasn't until the late 1800s that the one we recognize as modern was invented. One of the most widely used measuring tools in the world is the square used to calculate right angles.
